Life is a little crazy these days. Planning a wedding, recruiting 25 new group leaders, trying to find a new home, and trying to not lose my mind! Well, if you’ve been reading my blog, you’ve heard me talk about my upcoming marriage plenty. But I’m betting you haven’t heard that we’re trying to start 25 new groups at Highpoint. Yes, it’s a lofty goal because we’re basically doubling the number of groups we have!
You may wonder why we believe it is so important...

So, here I am sitting at my computer trying to figure out what my blog should be about this week. Some weeks, the topic just pops into my head and other weeks, like today, nothing comes. It’s interesting how that happens sometimes. There are always plenty of things swirling around in my head, but none of them seen blog-worthy today.
I would ask that you pray for our Groups for the Fall. We are starting 25 new Groups and still need people to Host them. ...

Yes, there are only 45 days until I’m getting married! It’s still hard to believe, but it’s just right around the corner. There is still so much to do – finish small details for the wedding, sell her house, find a place to live in Memphis, and finish planning the honeymoon to name a few. This is no small task to put on a wedding. Many of you know and have experienced this. I think it may be time to elope…
But it is definitely worth every minute! As I...

Last night, Christy, my fiancé, flew into Memphis. She has been in China for the past 10 days working with local missionaries. (She’s awesome, I tell you. You’re going to love her when she moves to Memphis.) She works with college students from all over Mississippi and sends them on mission trips across the globe. While she was in China, she found out that one of her students had been killed in Peru. He was in an auto accident while doing mission work for the...

Is that possible? Or better yet, is it sustainable? Can being bold become the norm in your life, instead of the exception. We all have stories in our lives where we decided to step up, do something out of the ordinary, and go for it. Think about that time. How did you feel at that point? If you’re anything like me, you felt exhilarated and a little scared all at the same time! What was that experience for you? Did you finally stand up to your overbearing...

Last night, I got back from BigStuf 2008 with our youth group. Yes, BigStuf only has one ‘f”, but that’s the way youth camps are. It was an awesome experience! We have a great group of students, and it was incredible to see how God moved in them. Every night, our students worshiped and came to know Him in a closer way. Many of them were broken and shown that they need to live for Him.
During the day, we got to play on the beach (which is always a plus…)...

So, recently I did a little yard work in my finance’s backyard. Ok, it wasn’t a little, it was a lot! Christy is not known for her yard upkeep, so there was much to be done so we could make it sale-worthy. (As a side note, if you are looking for a nice two-bedroom townhouse in Clinton, MS, I have the place for you!)
I got in the backyard and start working away. There were trees from the neighbors’ yards to cut back, vines and roots to rip off the fence, and flower...

The staff recently went to North Point's conference, Drive. Below is an excerpt from my journal after experiencing God's direction for my life. *** Just got done with the first night of the Drive Conference. At the end we did communion, and they had someone paint 3 pictures of Jesus during the songs. It was amazing how talented he was to be able to create those pictures. As we moved into worship, the Lord started talking with me about his call on my life. He started asking...

Yep, I’m headed back to Jackson, MS today. With gas starting to push $3.50 a gallon you may wonder why I would be willing to make such a trip. (It cost me over $60 to fill up yesterday!) Well, it’s because the love of my life lives there. For all of my many fans who read my blog several times a day, you’ll remember that I recently took Christy to Chicago to propose. Now, we’re in the fun process of planning the wedding! (Taking the wise advice of many men who have...

This past weekend, the Memphis Tigers played in the Final Four. Through the craziness of them making it, I scored a couple of tickets to the game. The Tigers don’t often make it to the Final Four (it’s been 23 years…) so I decided that I had to go. So, Bob and I headed out on our cross-country adventure to San Antonio, Texas!
After whooping up on UCLA, we didn’t play again until Monday. We had almost two full days to do whatever we wanted. So, with our...

Franklin D. Roosevelt stated in his inaugural address that “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” America was in the midst of the Great Depression at this point, so why did he say that fear was America’s greatest enemy? Well, we never hear in the sound bite his description of fear, which is unfortunate since we all succumb to fear every day. He goes on to say that fear is the “nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat...

That’s the response I got from my now new-fiancé, Christy, when I told her where we were going for our secret trip last week. Let me give you a little backgroundinto this. For Valentine’s Day, mypresent to her was a trip to an undisclosed location. Unbeknownst to her, I was planning on proposing to her whileon the trip! So, last week, I picked her up from work and took her to thetrain station. Once we got to the station she was itching to know what we weredoing, so I told her...
